THE LONDON POLICE ASSOCIATION is a labour organization that is union equivalent.  It was formed in 1947 to protect workers, remain fiscally competitive, improve working conditions, and unite and promote the mutual interest of the Active Membership.

This Active Membership of the Association is comprised of over 800 members both sworn Police Officers and Civilian employees of the London Police Service.  Members pay a percentage of their annual salary to be members of the Association.  Upon retirement, Active Members automatically become Life Members and continue to enjoy all the privileges of an Active Member except that of holding office on the Executive Board, and voting at Meetings of the Association.

The Association is owned and operated by the Active Membership.  Members are elected by the General Membership to structure an Executive Board of Directors and serve 3 year terms.  This elective Board employs a full-time Administrator and Administrative Assistant.  The Board meets to discuss and make decisions on matters pertaining to the Association and its Membership.

The Association was formed in 1947 and currently represents all 800 Members both sworn and civilian from the rank of Superintendent and below.  In addition to supporting its members, the Association and its Members also support the community.  Members are involved in many facets of volunteer work within London and also financially support many charities within London and surrounding area.  You will find members serving on various non profit Boards within the city as well.
