The London Police Association, in conjunction with the London Police Service Board, will fund an annual Award to an Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) graduate student enrolled in a Master’s program in Sociology at the University of Western Ontario. The award recipient will conduct applied research on issues of power and justice focusing on policing practices but may also include legal and justice practices, the inter-relation of work across core social services, mental health, community wellbeing, and/or Indigenous applications of justice.

The London Police Association Indigenous Community Impact Award will offer an opportunity for an Indigenous student to pursue their graduate studies in Sociology. It will also provide the London Police Association with an opportunity to learn from the award recipient.

The London Police Association is committed to positive and sustainable progress in policing, adapting to the communities we serve, and ensuring a safe environment for all.

We look forward to continuing our work with the University of Western Ontario as they help propel evidence-based solutions to modern policing issues.
