The events that transpired over this weekend showcased the best of police services and associations across the province
London, ON, April 21, 2021 – On April 17, 2021, the Ontario government provided revised information pertaining to the current State of Emergency and “Stay-at-Home” Order. Chief Williams clarified the role that the London Police Service will be playing in response to the updated legislation. We are confident that the strategy, as outlined by Chief Williams, is consistent with the role and mandate of the London Police Service.
The events that transpired over this weekend showcased the best of police services and associations across the province. We are incredibly proud of the members who reached out to express their displeasure with the original form of the legislation. It is imperative that associations speak up when our values depend on it. We are also pleased with the subsequent response and amendments from the Ontario government and remain hopeful that more proactive consultation will be the norm moving forward.
We continue to ask Londoners to follow the public health guidelines, as we all continue to play an important role in stopping the spread of COVID-19.
Our members will continue to serve their community to the best of their ability and devote attention to the relationships we have long sought to build. Our work is far from complete, but we take solace in having our voices heard.
